Mortal Kombat Movie: Every Character Confirmed So Far

Special Forces general Sonya appears to be the audience's source for learning the lore of the universe, as well as kicking the ass of Kano. That's good, because there's a LOT of lore that needs covered!

Sonya has been a part of the franchise ever since the first game, as has the enmity between her and the Black Dragon merc Kano. Her friendship with fellow Special Forces fighter Jax is also longstanding, so it will be interesting to see the two converse and compete in Mortal Kombat against elemental ninjas and sorcerers.

Her relationship with snarky actor combatant Johnny Cage will likely not be part of the film considering Cage's omission, which is a bummer. Their dynamic is one of MK's funniest and most endearing, especially in X and 11. To see this partnership open and blossom in live-action would be fun, but if Sonya's just here to kick ass and split her foes apart, that's totally fine too.
