11. Shang Tsung
A powerful sorcerer and major villain, Shang Tsung is one of the longest-running antagonists in Mortal Kombat. Known for his green magic blasts, possessions and Mystique-style impersonations, Tsung has been a thorn in the side of the good combatants ever since the arcade days.
Portrayed by Cary-Hiroyuki Tagawa in the 1995 film, he went on to return to the role for the eleventh game in the series. Known as a major component of Shao Khan's empire, Shang Tsung enjoys conniving schemes to put the heroes against themselves, especially Liu Kang, his main rival.
He returned in 11 after Kronika's defeat to manipulate events to place himself at the top of the MK universe, but he was stopped by Kang. To see this rivalry grow throughout the upcoming film is a delicious concept that will hopefully see fruition.
A brief shot shows the Outworld sorcerer commanding his followers in Mileena and Sub-Zero to kill the invaders, likely the Earthrealm badasses. Whether he's a more prominent figure in the movie is unclear, but to see his green magic in live-action would be undoubtedly great.
