Mortal Kombat: Ranking All 7 Female Ninjas From Worst To Best

3. Jade

Mortal Kombat
NetherRealm

Loyal, honest and no-nonsense – a perfect foil to Tanya – Jade has become an iconic character in her own right.

Starting out as a palette swap of Kitana in MK II, Shao Kahn's former assassin is an invaluable supporting character in the franchise. Her abilities and weaponry were identical to Kitana before she got a steel staff that doubles as razorangs – gameplay-wise, her attacks are most effective when using her staff.

Jade's storyline is practically the same in all of her incarnations: an Edenian, she's Kitana's best friend and one of Shao Kahn's best assassins, but she willingly joins Earthrealm when Kitana does.

Fans over the years have enjoyed Jade's presence from her skill-set and design to her personality. It's just too bad that she was killed off in the reboot before her character could be explored any further.

Still, she was with us in spirit via Kitana's Mournful variation (so many feels!), and her cameo in one of the non-canonical endings makes me want to believe that she'll return one day.
