Mortal Kombat: Ranking All 7 Female Ninjas From Worst To Best

4. Tanya

Mortal Kombat
NetherRealm Studios

A treacherous turncoat by trade, Tanya is no less a formidable fighter. She's agile, favouring her legs in order to perform powerful kicks and flips, her MKX variations all carry a teleport move, and her pyrokinetic abilities are devastating.

Her only outstanding quality is betrayal, as shown in Mortal Kombat 4 when it's revealed that she betrayed her realm Edenia to Shinnok and his cohorts. In both timelines, when she's not playing henchwoman to the villains, Tanya is out to preserve her own skin; the only difference is that she wants Edenia to be restored in the events of MKX, hence her alliance with Mileena.

Like Frost, one could argue that Tanya is as one-dimensional as they come. But she remains a popular figure among fans, especially since her appearance in MKX's Story Mode and as a DLC character. Her variations are difficult to master at first, but one can't help but be grateful for her aerial and projectile-based offence.

Riding on the wave of her resurgence, Tanya could possibly be an important character in future sequels if her non-canonical ending is anything to go by.

That, and we're all waiting for a showdown between her and the next entry on this list ...
