6. A Genuine Online Community

This isn't a particularly 'innovative' new venture unless your company's name is Nintendo. One of the major, most fundamental drawbacks on Nintendo consoles has been the total irrelevance of their online community features. The Wii had enormous potential to get Mario Kart and Super Smash Bros. rolled out to the world, and it did that. But the whole system was absolutely not user-friendly, with sprawling codes used instead of a simple username. Nintendo have partnered with DeNA, specialists in the field, and will hopefully work extensively on an online community that can compete with Xbox Live and PSN. Until Nintendo get their own equivalent (and drop the silly Mii obsession) they'll always lag behind.
