Nintendo NX: 8 Reasons It's Already Doomed
4. It's Releasing Mid-Generation
If speculation is correct (and we have every reason to believe it is the Wii U has all but stopped announcing big, first-party titles) then the Nintendo NX is set to launch late 2016 or early 2017 at the very, very latest. So why is this a problem?
At present, Microsoft and Sony have no intention of winding down. The PS4 is continuing its ascent and the Xbox One is still in a good enough position that it can continue to grow. A ton of games have been announced for both consoles and they've clearly got a substantial future. But consoles aren't cheap. Most people only buy one per generation. It's more than just a sign of allegiance, it's also a practicality, and something that's actually financially viable. The fact of the matter is, most people have already made their choice. Parents aren't going to buy their children a second console, and many people will be so set on buying games for the one they already own, that they'll simply pass the NX up.
