No Man's Sky: 10 More Games That Should Be Investigated For False Advertising

5. Metal Gear Solid 2 & 5

The Lie: Look at that above trailer.

Taken from 2001, the game capitalised on the immense hype coming out of 2000's E3 reveal, showing a game where Solid Snake was doing battle against everything from a lightning gun-equipped female, to an actual harrier jump jet on a bridge.

The Reality: As we all know now, these scenes were manufactured with the express intent of factoring into the game's story. New character Raiden wanted to be like Solid Snake, and the game's meta-narrative of simulations and repeats of history played into this entirely. Back then, we loved Metal Gear so damn much that such things were complained about, but no one ever got legal.

Then, things became much more annoying in MGS V, when after years of adverts claiming it would be "the missing link" between Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker and Metal Gear on the MSX, the requisite content was cut and left out entirely.

The Phantom Pain contained none of the integral connecting matter between the two timelines, and instead ended on a "You're actually a clone!" switcheroo that broke the entire franchise in half.
