Konami are not a small developer: they are one of the few giants of the Japanese industry still remaining viable in an increasingly hostile market and yet one thing they just cannot seem to get right is their menus. This year has seen a slight improvement. Now very similar in terms to FIFA, the main menu acts as a kind of pin system where you can pin the most recent or most used option on the front screen allowing instant access. Now, that sounds like improvement, but delve into the menus more and it is once again the same blocky, standard appearance that has adorned the previous ten PES games. Again, does this really matter in a game based around on pitch realism? You could argue not, but take one look at FIFAs menus and then a look at PES and it's clear to see where the class is. Stylish and modern menus help show that this game was crafted to perfection throughout, and PES shows signs of a developer stuck in the past.

I am a middle aged Yorkshireman obsessed with Bad Religion, The Simpsons, movies and anything to do with gaming. I love everything to do with Final Fantasy, Metal Gear and will hold a discussion with anyone about anything in games.
