PES 2018 Demo: 7 Things We Learned

7. Konami Don't Believe In Going All Out

When EA launch the FIFA 18 demo, it's expected that we'll get a little taster of what's to come in The Journey 2 as part of the package. Aside from that, exhibition matches will be the main offering, and there will be all the usual hype text that promises this to be the best FIFA yet. Konami didn't quite jump on the hype train with PES 2018.

Post-title screen, the first thing you'll see with the new PES demo is a 'Play Now' tab and one encouraging you to pre-order the full game. Hit the former and you'll be taken to another menu with options to start a one-off exhibition match or play with friends in co-op. That's literally it, the demo doesn't include anything else, not even a look at new features like 'Enhanced Visual Reality' or 'Gameplay Masterclass'.

That's a bit bare bones, Konami, although it is admirable you want the actual action on the pitch to do your talking for you. This is like a throwback to those football game demos of old. You know, the ones that'd only let you play 45 minutes. PES 2018 doesn't quite go that far, but it's close.
