PES 2019: 10 Tips To Play Like A Boss
5. Go Zonal When Defending Set Pieces
There's one key exception.
Man-to-man marking in PES is all over the place. Top defenders like Sergio Ramos are prone to doziness, and they'll lose their player more often than not. Combine that with the fact defensive headers seem much more powerful than attacking ones, and it makes much more sense to play a zonal system at set pieces.
On that note, try to steer clear of floating corners into the opposition box if they're marking zonally, because it's unlikely your strikers will get their head to the ball first. The best bet here is to play a short corner (this causes the defenders to flap and deviate from their plan), then cross. You'll find holes in the six-yard box that way.
Defending floated free kicks works the same way. In fact, it's a bit easier. The only thing to watch out for there is that your defending headers often find the feet of attacking midfielders lurking at the edge of the box. It's a good idea to head out to the side rather than away from goal in these situations.
