5. Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater Remake

Alongside a Silent Hill revival, Konami may be looking to rejuvenate another of its dormant franchises via a long-speculated remake of Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater. Rumours surrounding this supposed remake were reported by VGC’s Andy Robinson in 2021, although little in the way of new information has come since.

Now why the third installment instead of either of its predecessors exactly? It could be that Snake Eater (or rather its more refined re-release, Subsistence in this case) is arguably hailed as the best of the franchise, or perhaps due to it being the first game in the series chronologically. It would make sense, as it would provide a great jumping-on point for newcomers to the series and a safe yet nostalgic option to appease seasoned fans.

Konami has likely outsourced this to a third party, like they did with Bloober Team and Silent Hill 2, but which team exactly is taking on this potential task remains to be seen. Regardless, the prospect of a fully remade take on perhaps the best Metal Gear title to bring the series back into the limelight is certainly tantalising, and with all the rumours discussed seemingly aligning perfectly, it may not be long before that becomes a reality.
