PlayStation Showcase: 10 Games We Could See

4. Bluepoint Games "Original Content"

Bluepoint has made a name for themselves with their incredibly high-quality remasters and remakes, including the Nathan Drake collection, Shadow of the Colossus, and most notably the stellar Demon Souls remake for the PlayStation 5 launch.

As such, their next project is eagerly anticipated, though despite their history of reconstructing and polishing up old titles, it seems the studio is finally adventuring into more original territory with their next project. After their acquisition by Sony in 2021, studio head Marco Thrush stated in an interview with IGN: "Our next project, we're working on original content right now. We can't talk about what that is, but that's the next step in the evolution for us".

The use of the term "original content" is pretty open-ended. While it confirms they are working on something new, it doesn’t clarify whether the project is based on a whole new IP or a new title for an existing one. While the studio has certainly proven themselves very capable of either possibility, given their history and deliberate choice of wording, it's perhaps safer to assume it’ll be the latter of the two.

What that could be is anyone’s guess; uncharted maybe? Sly cooper? Twisted Metal? Sony’s IP library is plentiful. While the studio has most recently been providing development support for God of War Ragnarök, they’ve been shown to have a rather quick project turnaround time (albeit with these being remakes, of course), so it's possible we may just get a brief glimpse into what they're cooking up.
