Pokémon GO Gen 2: 9 New Tips & Tricks The Game Doesn't Tell You

8. Learn The New Pokéball Technique

If there was one dividing line in players that was greater than Mystic, Instinct and Valor, then it was thumb or forefinger. Some players used to play entirely one handed, recklessly thumbing Pokéballs across the screen without much due care or attention. Other (sane) players would use the fore finger of the opposite hand, spinning and curving their shots to ensure the maximum amount of accuracy.

Niantic, it seems, have sided with the thumbers.

The sweet spot for a ball release is now considerably lower down. Players in the past had found that the thumbs lack of reach up-screen meant that a few shots would often fall someway short of their target, and Niantic have rectified that by altering the release point of the ball. Great news for players who play with their thumb, but a nightmare for those who've been using an index finger.

Now, to effectively get a decent spin and curve without dramatically overshooting, the whole action must be performed in the lower half of the screen. Forgive the football analogy, but that's like getting free kick right on the edge of the box which, as all commentators are quick to point out, doesn't really leave enough room to elaborately work the ball.

Keep it in mind though, and you should find your rhythm again quickly enough.
