Pokémon Sword & Shield: 10 Galarian Forms We Need To See
2. Lopunny
Lopunny, like Absol, Sableye and the final entry on the list is here partly because of the absence of Megas. Though Game Freak has surprised us by bringing Regional Variants back, we have already had it confirmed that Megas are going the journey, potentially forever.
Lopunny then could do with something else to make it battle viable. Normal’s a pretty poor type, granting only one immunity but no strengths and several weaknesses. Mega Lopunny added Fighting in there and became a little Pokémon Chun-Li, but a Galarian Lopunny could go in another direction.
Bunnies are an animal definitely associated with frolicking in the forests of Britain, so perhaps a Grass typing added in there? They could go wild and do for Dark or Poision in Galar’s enchanted forest location, but it seems like something for simple may be better.
After all, despite Lopunny’s lack of viability in game, it’s a hugely popular Pokémon away from the battling; there’s some pretty graphic artwork online which might tell you why. Galarian Pokémon, cynically, offer a fresh marketing ability.
Keeping Grass Lopunny sweet with leaves in its fur could better ensure its continued popularity amongst those who like Pokémon a little too much.
