Predicting The Game Of The Year Shortlist For 2018

6. Assassin's Creed Odyssey

God Of War
Ubisoft

Managing to offset the complaints that the franchise has grown stagnant, Assassin's Creed Odyssey is another example of how willing Ubisoft is dedicated to mixing up the formula and trying new things. Much like Origins, this giant open-world RPG has added another widely acclaimed entry to the iconic action franchise, changing the fundamentals of the Assassin's Creed experience and winding up with a good chance of snagging 2018's top prize as a result.

Crafting an enormous open-world rendition of Greece, Odyssey has introduced many first time additions to the series. You can now choose the gender of your protagonist, make moral choices with dialogue options and enjoy more immersive RPG elements in general, clearly implying that Ubisoft has listened to the fans and implemented changes to better the experience as a whole. It's also the most technically proficient of Ubisoft's games to date, with better facial animations and visual fidelity.

With critics raving about Odyssey's superior take on the franchise, it's nigh impossible to imagine that it won't carve itself out a spot on the game of the year list for 2018.

Ubisoft has clearly been working tirelessly on crafting the definitive Assassin's Creed experience, and the studio's attention to the fans and passionate development style make Odyssey one of this year's best gaming experiences.
