PS2 Mini: 20 Games It MUST Include
13. Silent Hill II
Most survival horror fans will either credit the first Resident Evil game or the first Alone in the Dark title with inspiring the genre. While the former coined the term and the latter proved to be an early yet admirable attempt, Silent Hill on the original PlayStation was, in the minds of many, the first genuinely horrific survival horror experience.
While those lacking the kind of hardened psyche earned from watching too many John Carpenter movies in the dark may turn their noses up at this one, Silent Hill 2, the most prominent franchise title to see release on Sony’s second console, certainly deserves a spot on their prospective PlayStation 2 Classic.
Fans have wanted nothing more than to rre-experience this devastatingly subversive game, and, unfortunately, Konami’s botched Silent Hill HD Collection failed to satisfy. While most fans will already be acquainted with the plot’s gripping twists and turns, it’s still a blast to play.
Of course, Konami doesn’t seem eager to play ball right now, and they’ve spent the past few years doing much more harm than good in terms of fanservice. The first game wasn’t on the PlayStation Classic, but here’s a chance to make amends.
