PS5: 7 HUGE Mistakes Sony Are Making
6. Lying About Pre-Orders
A whopper of a lie and something that seems to have come more from retailers deciding to put their pre-orders live than anything on Sony's end (though they haven't done anything to help since), post-showcase the likes of Walmart, GAME, ShopTo.net etc. all started taking pre-orders for the PS5.
This stands in direct opposition to comments from PlayStation's Head of Marketing, Eric Lempel, who told Geoff Keighley that you'll "know when pre-orders will happen. It’s not going to happen with a minute’s notice."
Even more on the nose considering what's happened, he continued,
"We’re going to, at some point, let you know when you can pre-order a PlayStation 5, so please don’t feel like you have to go run and line up anywhere until you receive official notice on how that will work.”
Of course, nothing came from Sony despite them having an official pre-order registering system, leading to millions of potential buyers being greeted with "Sold Out" responses instead.
