Metacritic Score: 79-86 The Verdict: A rare expansion title that arguably improves upon the core game itself, The Following adds a massive countryside expanse to your sandbox while also adding new weapons, quests, vehicles and even some tweaked visuals to boot. Though, much like the original Dying Light, characters aren't much more than sketches and the familiar quest-types can give way to monotony, on the whole the sense of scale and overall world-building is terrific, making your surroundings feel lived in and under constant threat from the undead horde. Adding a welcome shine to the original title while serving up an 8-10 hour adventure, or much longer if you lean towards heavy exploration, The Following is a potent reminder that expansions need not be glorified DLC updates: they can be defined, dense experiences on their own merits.
