4. Superhot
Metacritic Score: 84 The Verdict: There hasn't been a shooter as innovative as Superhot in quite some time. The game's gimmick is simple: time only moves when you do (or near enough), allowing you to strategically think about your next move to try and take the enemy unaware. Though Superhot's core campaign may only last around two hours, its addictive quality is such that you'll probably want to blast through it a few times, plus there are various additional modes to heighten the challenge and ensure you get your money's worth. It looks gorgeous and the mechanics are superbly designed, so while the buyer should beware of the short play-time, it's an astonishing shot of adrenaline-fueled madness all the same. Now, if only the game had a level editor...
