Ranking 2015’s Summer Video Games From Worst To Best
3. Batman: Arkham Knight
Rocksteady's trilogy-capper sadly went out with a bit of a whimper culturally, despite critically getting the most solid reviews of the lot across the board. Marred by suspect DLC and Season Pass plans on consoles and a PC version that had to be pulled from sale simply due to being completely inept, when it worked, Arkham Knight is the best the series has ever been. Taking place over the course of one evening (itself a bit of a stretch in the reality department) it allowed Rocksteady to weave together a story more akin to Scott Snyder's Batman: Eternal arc or something like Hush, where almost every major player in The Dark Knight's rogues gallery comes out to play in a very short space of time. Gameplay-wise the combat was crunchier than ever, but more notably everyone got hung up on the divisive Batmobile; a Nolan-style tank of a vehicle that ended up being used in everything from chasing down perps in their puny cadillacs, to completing underground 'Riddler Raceways'. The latter could've been cut out or down on, but it'll never get away from the fact that when you're taking to the skies to soar across Gotham, knocking out groups of thugs and stopping off to solve a murder mystery or three; this is hands-down the most complete 'Batman experience' we'll ever get.
