32. Laughing Octopus (MGS 4)

The first member of the sublimely creepy Beauty and the Beast unit is Laughing Octopus, who uses her black mist to teleport around the hut, and to make matters worse, she's also able to cloak herself, fire guns, roll around on the floor, use her tentacles to shock you, and send bombs floating in your direction. The best part of the fight in terms of entertainment value and imagination is when Octopus begins mimicking other objects such as a mannequin and Metal Gear Mk. 2, requiring the player to put a little more thought into things than just blasting away with all their rations equipped. It's not a classic MGS fight, but it sticks in the mind because, of course, it introduces the Beauty & Beast mechanic, where after the beast form is defeated, they'll shed that suit and reveal the beautiful woman underneath, who Snake also needs to shoot dead (or tranq).
