Ranking Every Boss Battle In Spyro: Reignited Trilogy
10. Jacques
Jacques feels a little like a reskinned Blowhard, which considering the hairy tornado is propping up the table, makes him another disappointment. He’s quicker than Blowhard at least, flinging boxes at you, but by the time you’re this far through the game they’re easy enough to dodge.
In some ways, he’s a let down at the end of Dream Weavers. This realm offers up Dark Passage and Lofty Castle, two of the best levels in the entire trilogy. But it’s hard to view Jacques that way. He’s another victim of the slightly off key approach to bosses in the first game more than anything else.
The level leading up to him is brilliant, though it doesn’t really make him seem like a focal point. Lava, rising podiums and invincible Fools all feature as you approach him, but they’re really just set dressing for the battle itself. You could slip off the bridge into the lava, technically, but if that happens you probably deserve to lose.
As a level to play through, Jacques is another excellent offering in the Dream Weavers realm. As a one on one boss though? Another fairly uninspired battle from the first game of the series.
