Much like Jak 3, Uncharted 3 'suffered' in that its predecessor, Uncharted 2, set a ridiculously high standard that it couldn't quite live up to by offering 'more of the same'. Though the gameplay itself was enjoyable as ever, adding horseback gunfights, a British pub brawl and many other things to the established action/exploration mix, the story was all over the place at times despite delving into the history of the always likable Nate and Sully and exploring the origin of their partnership in excellent fashion. The visuals were nothing short of sublime, however, and still rank amongst the finest on Playstation 3. The multiplayer feature, meanwhile, was improved from the offering featured in Uncharted 2, rivalling the online content in similar games such as Assassin's Creed in terms of scope and variety. All in all, the game would've been more than an adequate send-off for Drake and company, and it was widely expected to be the last entry in the series given Naughty Dog's history with trilogies. A fourth and final game, subtitled A Thief's End, has been announced for the Playstation 4, however, and will most likely be excellent given the pedigree of the three games that have preceded it.
