Ranking Every Neversoft Tony Hawk Game From Worst To Best

4. Project 8

Project 8 massively improved on the promise of single map, rather than individual levels. The fictional cityscape offered a mix of features found in fan favourite levels from the earlier games.

The ‘Nail the Trick’ mode improved on previous games focus ability, offering a brand-new challenge and a more complex way of performing tricks, similar to how EA’s Skate series would utilise the analogue sticks.

The game took a step back from the storytelling aspects and returned to a similar set up to Pro Skater 4. The player would need to skate around the areas and talk to NPCs to get challenges. The cityscape was littered with various graffiti, marking out different lines for the player to attempt. Each line would have separate sections, with the goal to complete all the sections to gain stat increases.

Graphics were never a huge part of the Tony Hawk franchise, but Project 8 provided a much-needed graphical upgrade that fit much better with the quality of other games on the market. Sadly, the game removed nearly all of the creation modes at the behest of fans. All that remained was a very limited character creation mode, which failed to impress.
