Ranking Every PlayStation Classic Game From Worst To Best
14. Ridge Racer Type 4
No, it's not Gran Turismo but you could pick up any racer from the '90s or early '00s and say the same thing about them. For a long time, Gran Turismo was the game to beat, so Ridge Racer Type 4 can't really be shamed for not matching one of the greatest racing sims of all time.
Besides, the game was fairly different to the PlayStation's biggest selling game. It took itself less seriously, leaning heavily on the powerslide mechanic to round corners and get a speed boost. But then that just reminds everyone of Crash Team Racing and again, Ridge Racer Type 4 comes off second best. It just can't win, really.
Even though it never tries to match Gran Turismo's realism, however, it's actually the least 'arcadey' of the three vehicle-based games in the Classic's stable, despite actually being an arcade game itself. It's not realistic enough to have that going for it, while not whacky enough to match Twisted Metal or Destruction Derby. It does, however, tower over those two with vehicle options, boasting over 300 different cars.
