Ranking EVERY Xbox Game Studio From Worst To Best
14. Mojang Studios
Recent Release: Minecraft Dungeons
Past Highlights: Minecraft
In Development: ... more Minecraft?
In 2011, Markus Persson (and his company Mojang) released the pixelated open-world game of Minecraft in a pre-alpha release. That niche indie experiment would go on to be the worldwide phenomenon your nephew is currently playing on his parent's mobile phone.
Persson eventually sold the company and IP to Microsoft in 2014, but the exclusive ownership has not prevented it from coming to every platform known to man - including rival consoles like PS4, Switch, and very recently, the PSVR.
Mojang is basically the Minecraft company though, with not much dev diversity in their backlog...sure, they've made other games, but you'll be hard-pressed to name them (hint: Caller's Bane).
Recently though, they had a chance to do something different, albeit within the franchise, with Minecraft Dungeons, an incredibly fun and family-friendly spin on Diablo.
So while they are an essential cash cow for Xbox, relegated to endless updates, they might have more welcome experimental opportunities, showcasing their versatility, in the near future.
