2. Multiple Character Slots
Right now it seems that Rockstar is taking a page out of Nintendo's book and only allowing players to have one online save. It's arguable that having one main character that you use means you'll be able to unlock everything; with no need to go back through and repeat everything. But there are customisation options that are available strictly depending on the gender of your character.
With the idea of allowing male characters to sport dresses in the wild west more than likely being the less preferable option by dedicated players, even just allowing a second character would fill this gap. Additionally with the inability to sell owned weapons or get anything back when discarding your mounts, a fresh start would allow players to be more efficient with their earned cash.
When the online mode was just released, payouts for tasks and activities weren't known; and anyone who's played for a decent length of time will know how long it takes to buy certain things.
There is also the matter of just having fun. If you do role play, it's nice to be able to switch to characters with different appearances; or maybe you just want to be able to alternate between a rough-looking hillbilly and a dapper bandit. The freedom of customisation would only be enhanced.
