This advice goes more for the throwing-knives and bow-and-arrow only modes, where death is permanent and you only get one shot to make your mark, but there's a lot to be said about biding your time in Red Dead Online, and making sure you don't rush into situations.

Play your cards right in Red Dead's free-for-all playlists, and you're likely to come across players slugging it out with each other. If you're sneaky enough, it'll allow you to get the drop on both and in doing so pick up two easy kills. The same principle applies to the game's domination-style game-modes, which rewards teamwork and the ability of a player to read a game as it progresses.
