Red Dead Redemption 1 Or 2 - Which Is Better?

4. The Villains Part 2: Micah Bell

Red Dead Redemption 1 2
Rockstar

The second issue lies with Micah. While Micah is one of the greatest and most hated antagonists of all time, there is one aspect of his character that the game falls flat on.

He is established as a survivor, a man so self-obsessed he will do anything to keep himself alive. So why does Micah persist in following a gang that he has seen fail on countless occasions, only to then betray said gang to the government and still remain with them?

If this fact is true, then Micah continues to do robberies with a gang that he himself set up to be caught.

The revelation that Micah is the traitor is supposed to be the final attempt by Rockstar to devoid the player of any guilt they might have for killing him. After being told Micah is the traitor, the game begins to make a lot less sense.

Anyone who had endured the endless berating from the pot-belly cowpoke himself didn't need any more reason to fight the moustached menace.

Micah represents the role filled by Edgar Ross in the first game who had a much more convincing arc throughout the story. His unwavering fealty to his own corrupt sense of justice feels more legitimate than Micah's back and forth between himself and the gang.
