Red Dead Redemption 2: 10 Unsolved Mysteries That Will Freak You Out

The Strange Man had a much bigger role in the first Red Dead Redemption game, visiting John Marston at various times in the storyline. He’d usually have a fairly cryptic conversation, loaded with symbolism that John might miss but which would be picked apart and analysed by the player base.

Various theories suggested that he might be God, the Devil, or a similar deity interacting with John to try and shape or influence his destiny.

In Red Dead Redemption 2, you’ll have to search him out a little more, but his story is much freakier this time around to make up for it.

A deserted shack in Lemoyne features a silhouette on a canvas, but if you return there after seeing it once, it will reveal itself to be the Strange Man again. He’ll also appear in the mirror behind you, though when you turn around he’s not there.

If he is supposed to be a deity, why would Arthur and John both see him take the exact same form? Well, his clothing is similar to a more polished Dutch Van Der Linde, and the two men may be seeing God (or indeed the Devil) take the form of the man they admire most.
