Red Dead Redemption 2: 8 Reasons You Should Be Worried

Despite how much players might not want them to, you can't blame Rockstar for focusing on its online components going forward. While unit sales of GTA V amounted to well over $1 billion, microtransactions alone have netted the company over $700 million, enough to justify pushing online multiplayer even more in upcoming releases.

With the potential to make more money off in-game sales than most publishers do on selling full titles, Rockstar and publisher Take Two will no doubt be doubling down on implementing even more microtransactions in Red Dead Redemption 2. In fact, it's already been rumoured that the sequel was delayed to make the multiplayer even more appealing by adding in features like cross-system play.

Of course, while a focus on Red Dead Online is good for the companies who make the game, it might not result in a better experience for players.

The original RDR was remembered for its epic single-player campaign, and if development focus is being diverted more and more towards working on multiplayer features, the reason fans jumped on board with the series in the first place might end up falling by the wayside.
