Red Dead Redemption 2 Reviews: 9 Early Reactions You Need To Know

3. Realism Applies To EVERYTHING

Across a staggering eight years in development, it's clear Rockstar wanted to put their sizeable teams, talent and cash into creating the depiction of the wild west.

For better or worse, every instance of Red Dead 2 is weighty, realistic and somewhat belaboured. IGN point out the following:

"Bodies have to be manually looted, and Arthur needs to physically manhandle a body to do so. Single-action pistols need to be cocked before firing. Guns Arthur isn’t currently carrying need to retrieved from his saddle. Coffee needs to be brewed before drinking it."

Again, your mileage will vary, but talk about commitment to a given time period. This is the polar opposite of Battlefield 1 or Call of Duty WWII, which still modernised the speed of play to match up with modern competition.
