1. You Can Spot Mr. Downes Coughing On Your First Visit To Valentine
The chemical weapon that is Thomas Downes is actually encounterable before the dreaded debt collection mission, "Money Lending and Other Sins III".
The first time Arthur arrives at Valentine in Chapter 2, he can spot a stripe-shirted man calling out for donations for a charity fundraiser. That man is Thomas Downes, who is already sporting a noticeable cough during dialogue with Morgan, with our cowboy hero threatening Mr. Downes because of his excessive coughing should the player chose the "Antagonize" dialogue option.
Downes then pops up again in another Chapter 2 mission, "Americans at Rest".
Arthur meets up with Javier and Charles (and some lady friends) in the Valentine saloon. The trio wait for their fellow gang compatriot Bill, who enters the saloon and bumps into another patron, causing a wild bar fight.
In the scuffle, local meathead Tommy makes an appearance and attempts to grind Javier into a fine powder, before eventually being intercepted by Arthur, who then spills the fight to the outside.
As the two battle it out, Arthur finally gets the upper hand and is close to beating Tommy to death, before the timely interruption from our mate Tom Downes, who is again sporting a pesky little cough.
