Red Dead Redemption 3: 10 Cities That Could Be On The Map
4. Santa Fe, New Mexico
First inhabited by Puebloan tribes, and then by the Spanish, Santa Fe is the oldest state capital in the U.S.
Santa Fe is one of the most unique cities in the United States. Not only is it one of the great art destinations of the world, but it was founded in 1610 as the capital of Nuevo Mexico, making it the oldest state capital in the U.S. What's more, it was inhabited by American Indian tribes for at least seven thousand years before the Spanish arrived.
It's a cultural wellspring far older than any of the governments that have laid claim to it. Its pre-modern Pueblos, Spanish cathedral, gothic chapel, and countless adobe structures all lend themselves to the city's distinct flavor, and any locale inspired by Santa Fe would be far and away unlike anything we've ever seen in a Red Dead Redemption game. It could truly be unique, distinct, and beautiful.
While the city itself is short on outlaw exploits, the then-New Mexico Territory was not. Gunslingers who made their bones in New Mexico included Billy the Kid, Elfego Baca, Pat Garrett, Tom Pickett, Black Jack Ketchum, Kid Curry, and the Apache Kid. (There were a lot of kids.)
