9. Angelo Bronte

A common thread in many of Rockstar's games is their villains' downfall tends to come at the hand of their own hubris. Angelo Bronte is no exception as his sleazy over-confidence in humiliating and using Dutch and the gang ultimately leads to a ferocious and bloody war between the two factions that ends as quickly as it starts.

Bronte comes into the fray when RDR2's narrative takes the player into the thick of Saint Denis, and right on the doorstep of the very man who runs it all.

At a first glance, Bronte might be a handy new ally for the gang as they parade around Saint Denis; but after attending a party at the Mayor's estate it becomes clear that Bronte's disdain for anyone that isn't him doesn't end with the dangerous gunslingers he's invited into his life. Accepting Jack Marston from the Braithwaites as collateral for their stolen moonshine should have marked Bronte for death the second Dutch shook his hand, but it was his false-tips about robbing trolleys that was the ultimate disrespect for Dutch, and so the debt must be paid.

The assault on Bronte's estate is a fun shoot-em up caper, and the build-up missions are quite memorable. But it's what follows that will stick in many fans' minds. As Bronte's confidence and belief in his wealth that he will be spared Dutch's wrath, players witness one of the most brutal cut scene deaths. What a horrible and fitting end to such a contemptible man.

I overthink a lot of things. Will talk about pretty much anything for a great length of time. I'm obsessed with General Slocum from the 2002 Spider-Man film. I have questions that were never answered in that entire trilogy!
