Red Dead Redemption: Who Should Play Who In A Live Action Adaptation

9. Javier Escuella - Michael Mando

Red Dead Redemption 2 Jon Bernthal
AMC

The Character: It was great to discover first-time playing that RDR2 had decided to not only flesh out Javier Escuella's characterization, but provide honourable qualities that make it more heartbreaking to see him grow into a villain later in life.

Javier is a loyal member of the Van Der Linde Gang who, through campfire get-togethers and missions into the mountains, was just a hairsbreadth away from being a hero himself. His first introduction in RDR2 sees Javier dutifully volunteer to look for John in the torrential snowstorm. That's a brother from another mother right there!

The Actor: Michael Mando has blown up on the pop-culture scene since he was on the poster for Far Cry 3. His supporting role as Nacho in Better Call Saul has grown into one of the characters we'd call a protagonist - and one we can relate to.

With the right kind of writing, Mando does a superb job at turning menacing characters into relatable characters you want to root for. A well-rounded Javier Escuella would be an excellent, tragic character for him to play.

I overthink a lot of things. Will talk about pretty much anything for a great length of time. I'm obsessed with General Slocum from the 2002 Spider-Man film. I have questions that were never answered in that entire trilogy!
