Resident Evil 2 Remake: 9 Iconic Moments We Can't Wait To See

2. The Final Fight

What happens when the G-Virus takes complete hold over your body? If the hulking mass on Leon and Claire's escape train is any indication, the pathogen's idea of perfection is teeth, teeth and more teeth. The pairs' final confrontation with Birkin is, like the G-Virus infused alligator before it, one of Resi 2's low points, not in presentation, but the execution.

As Birkin's Sarlacc-inspired maw inches ever closer to gobbling your preferred hero up, the encounter is nought but a case of unloading all of your best ammo until either he dies or you do, making for a rather trite final boss battle, especially when compared to Birkin's earlier forms.

But that's the price of ambition, isn't it? No way was Capcom going to have the means to make a fight with Birkin's amorphous final form engaging in 1998 - it did its best - but now? We should have faith that Capcom has the chops to do the encounter justice in the remake, especially in a post Resident Evil 7 world.

Ethan's clashes with Jack Baker and Eveline in the series' reboot make the prospect of a current-gen showdown with Birkin tantalizing, to say the least.
