Resident Evil 8 Wishlist: 10 Things We Want To See

3. A More Expansive Location To Explore

Resident Evil 8
Capcom

As claustrophobic and full of as many confusing puzzles as the first game's Spencer mansion, the confining setting of the Baker family home in the seventh release was one of the title's biggest strengths.

But it's clear that the developers wanted to create something more expansive.

So much so, that for a whole hour or so towards the end, Capcom completely switched gears and changed the setting to a tanker in the middle of the ocean. The jump to another location was jarring, and to make sure the same thing doesn't happen again the developers need to create a larger sandbox going into the next game.

Just like Resident Evil 2 moved from a mansion to a whole city block, Resident Evil 8 needs to give players a larger environment to explore while keeping the intimate focus that the series regained in the latest title.

The next game doesn't have to ditch the mostly-indoor design that the developers established in 7, but it should give players more than a handful of buildings to explore.
