Sea Of Thieves Review: 5 Ups & 5 Downs
4. The Stunning Art Direction
Technical gripes aside, Sea of Thieves sure is a pretty looking game. Ever since it was first revealed, there's been persistent amazement at the stunning quality of the game's water effects, and truly, they are easily some of the best that gaming has ever produced.
Though the rest of the game doesn't ever reach the same level of awe, it still makes the most of its stylised, cartoonish palette, with bright colours filling the horizon and exaggerated character designs enhancing the goofball tone.
Standing on the bow of your ship and surveying a nearby island is a jaw-dropping experience no matter how many times you do it, so it's just a shame the game's content doesn't match the impressiveness of its aesthetic.
