8. Genichiro Ashina (First Encounter)

The moment you emerge onto that open field with a deep moonlight background, you know that something big is going to go down. That thing turns out to be you losing your Lord and your arm, setting in motion the events for the entire game, but also it means it’s your first chance to meet Genichiro Ashina.

This fight is meant to be lost and on a first playthrough this guy will likely annihilate you quickly, however on subsequent playthroughs there’s a high chance you will absolutely hand this guy's ass to him, as you’ll have mastered deflecting by this point in order to get through the final bosses.

Still though, for a first timer this is near impossible as his attack chains are long, his timing's delayed and, worse still, if that bow hits you in the second phase it will absolutely shred you.

Still, that's not as painful as actually beating this boss and finding out... that it actually changes nothing and you don’t even get a reward. Great.
