Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice - Ranking Every Boss From Easiest To Hardest

9. Corrupted Monk and True Monk

I’m lumping both versions of the Monk together as both are essentially the same battle and, unfortunately for this super-sized spiritual slasher, she’s incredibly easy to take down. Now I know what you’re thinking: "no she's not, those wide slashes and wind-up attacks obliterate health and posture like no one's business".

That's true, if you fight hard instead of smart, anyway.

Stock yourself full of snap seeds and some divine confetti and the apparition version of the monk is a cakewalk, as nearly double damage and a snap that interrupts her attacks means you can wail on her for ages.

The true version can be cheesed even further, as if you are quick you can sneak up into the trees and behind her before she ends her landing animation and you can backstab straight away. Then take the second pip down by jumping up into the trees as soon as she begins to summon phantoms and do a takedown by jumping on her head.

The only real challenge therefore is the centipede fuelled final stage which adds a terror-filling vomit attack and some extra speed to her swings. This is rightly the hardest part of the fight and going toe to toe with the Corrupted Monk becomes a tense game of building posture, backing off from the acid spew and diving in when the window opens.

However, for the fact that you can knock off 2 bars of health in about 30 seconds, the Corrupted Monk sits low on the list, despite appearing so late in the game.
