Shigeru Miyamoto Unsure About Mario Kart 7's Customisation

"It can be fun to win money for racing and use it to buy parts and such, but I didn't think that had much to do with the core fun of the series"

1UP), Miyamoto expressed his love for the core gameplay of the series, and his desire to make sure that the series stays focused. "I was actually pretty well against some of the customisation features of the game" he begins, further adding that "It can be fun to win money for racing and use it to buy parts and such, but I didn't think that had much to do with the core fun of the series". But while he remained adamant that the series didn't need many new bells and whistles, Miyamoto has conceded that the next entry is full of some excellent additions by the development team. "The basic message here is 'Mario Kart has been powered up for the Nintendo 3DS,' and I think the online upgrades in particular are pretty neat. A lot of time was spent on how to get all the individual components working together - Wi-Fi and Street Pass, local and Internet play" Miyamoto also talked about why Mario Kart 7 has been blessed with a number at the end of its title, following years of subtitled entries like 'Super Circuit' and 'Double Dash'. "It is the seventh game, and so it just sort of came down to what felt best. Besides, 7 is supposed to be a lucky number, isn't it?" Do you think Miyamoto has a point about potentially disrupting the core gameplay, or do you feel the series needs to evolve even further that it already has ? We'll have more news on Mario Kart 7 as well as our own review in the coming weeks. Mario Kart 7 is released on the 2nd December. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sjqJ80PSfrY&feature=player_embedded
