2. Graphics

Graphically, SimCity might not require the meaty processing power of something like Crysis 3, but it's a gorgeous looking game all the same, and a massive leap from the previous title (though that was to be expected). From the vibrant, far-out cityscapes to the zoomed-in intricacies of the city, the game is aesthetically superb, putting an unexpected amount of detail into each individual Sim, who can be observed and followed as they walk around, suggesting what new they'd like to see in their city. I particularly like watching the bustling city moving around at night; the cars, the neon lights and so on, though probably the most compelling use of the game' visual engine comes when disaster strikes. The meteorites and hurricanes provide the most dynamic glimpses of destruction, beautifully rendered in unexpectedly thorough detail. If you needed any convincing that disasters are the most entertaining element of the game - and I'm sure you don't - look no further than how beautifully the game crackles from a visual perspective when chaos reigns.
