South Park: The Stick Of Truth - 12 Reasons It's Awesome

10. Enjoyable Combat System

Interlaced between a completely ridiculous story, Stick of Truth is also aware of the fact it is a video game, as regardless of how engaging a narrative is, a game needs to be first and foremost fun otherwise it isn't worth playing. And so rolling along with the RPG elements already in place, Obsidian have designed a turn-based combat system that isn't only fun, but wholeheartedly has a sense of belonging in the context of the story. As Cartman justifies the turn-based combat in the tutorial, "IT'S LIKE YE OLDEN TIMES!" And while the mechanics of the combat system are clearly crafted by Obsidian, Trey Parker and Matt Stone also have their fingerprints all over it. For some perspective, amongst the hilarity of the Jew class are some hilarious abilities like Jew-Jitsu and the ability to unleash a plague. Each and every class has a unique set of moves that never get old thanks to some exemplary animation. It's also highly apparent that the combat system is intentionally designed not to intimidate gamers that may be unfamiliar with a turn-based style, instead being another layer to the comedy and serving as a functional method of gameplay. In short, it's hysterically fun and smartly concocted to the point where anyone can pick it up and play it.
