Spider-Man: Miles Morales may be a standalone game, but it's not the numbered sequel fans were expecting. That title likely won't release until 2021 or 2022, with Insomniac having been dividing their time between Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart and obviously Spider-Man: Miles Morales. Still though, you can expect a bunch in the way of set-up for the full sequel whenever it does arrive.

Pretty much nothing is known about the story for Spider-Man: Miles Morales, apart from the fact that it takes place after the first game and presumably while Peter is out of town. The City that Never Sleeps DLC add-ons for Spider-Man PS4 confirmed that Miles was being trained by Peter a few short months after the events of the main game. However, it's unclear how long a gap there's been between the DLC and the upcoming Miles Morales game; is it set a few months after the first title? A year? It's too hard to tell.

Either way, you can expect Insomniac to ramp up the teasers for the numbered Spidey sequel throughout the game, including what's become of Norman Osborn and his son Harry, and potentially even the symbiote being housed in his secret lab.

Fans can reasonably expect Spider-Man 2 to feature both Peter and Miles as playable protagonists, but only time will tell how much Miles' own game will tee-up the full sequel.
