9. The Side Characters
It's one thing to truly nail Peter Parker and Spider-Man as dual-personalities, it's a whole other thing to get the side characters right as well.
As is the case with Batman, one of Spider-Man's greatest strengths is his supporting cast. Whether it's his confidants like Aunt May, Mary Jane, Harry Osborn, or Curt Conners, or his enemies like Otto Octavius, Norman Osborn, Wilson Fisk, or Eddie Brock, Spider-Man has no shortage of incredible surrounding characters.
As such, Insomniac Games understood the importance of getting the side characters right. Better yet, the studio didn't just opt for the most obvious and generic renditions of those characters, they opted to evolve them and embrace newer Spider-Man comic traits; Mary Jane as a Lois Lane-style journalist, Aunt May as a golden-heart caregiver, and Harry Osborn as a globe-trotting philanthropist.
It doesn't just feel like these characters have been stagnating in the years that Peter has been Spider-Man, with Mary Jane a model, Aunt May a grieving widow, and Harry a douche working for his Dad. Instead, they have lived lives, and grown. It's a nice touch that's well appreciated, both in this game and going forward.
