New York is as integral a character to the Spider-Man mythos as anyone else. The City That Never Sleeps is home to many a superhero, from the Fantastic Four to Doctor Strange, but it's a certain teenager from Brooklyn who embodies the spirit of New Yorkers unlike anyone else.
Insomniac Games knew how important it was to get New York just right. Most other Spider-Man games presented a cookie-cutter version of the city, making it only recognisable thanks to the Empire State Building, yellow cabs, and claustrophobic streets. However Spider-Man PS4's New York is much more authentic, with an almost 1:1 recreation of the city, right down to the accents and pizza joints on every street corner!
Several real New Yorkers have been Tweeting about how fantastic the rendition is and that it even makes them homesick. The setting of any video game is crucial to making it immersive and memorable, and that is especially true when your home is the most iconic city on earth. No game prior to Insomniac's take on Spidey has ever gotten New York quite this right.
