Splinter Cell The Animated Series: 10 Things It Must Include

1. Michael Ironside As Sam Fisher

Splinter Cell
Ubisoft

Michael Ironside was forced to pull out of Blacklist due to health issues, actively handing the reigns to younger, more physically able Eric Johnson for what was effectively a soft reboot of the series. Despite his blessing - and what was frankly a stellar outing from Johnson - the consensus from fans was that the character of Fisher simply didn't feel the same. Ironside's iconic tones and dry patter were greatly missed.

With a Splinter Cell animated series that can be easily rectified. Assuming Ironside has the desire to return - as he did with cameos in Ghost Recon - then the nature of the series means he can step into the booth and not be concerned with any physical activity.

We have no word yet on the direction, but having an ageing Fisher pass the mantle onto a younger agent would be compelling. Whether this is the case or not, Ironside's connection to the character would appeal to multiple generations of fans.
