Star Wars Battlefront: 10 Burning Questions EA Need To Answer
9. Why Is There No Class System?
One of the few pieces of information that the public have been privy too thus far is that, unlike the previous instalments of the franchise, there will be no class system this time. Where as Battlefront's I and II put almost all of their stock in selecting between predetermined and balanced loadouts, this time players will have a more customisable approach akin to COD and other modern shooters. Choice, it might seem, is a sensible and welcome approach for a game that hopes to slot in beside (or, who knows, surpass) its more up-to-date peers, but it's a move that doesn't quite make sense in the Star Wars universe. Within the franchises canon is a liturgy of special troop types that all have their own distinctive and long-established quirks. Letting players mess with this might not be as welcome an addition as the developers think it is.
