Star Wars Battlefront: 10 Burning Questions EA Need To Answer
8. How Will A Game With 40 Separate Players Work?
One of the more headline grabbing bits of information that accompanied the announcement was that the online skirmishes would be designed to accommodate a whopping 40 individual players. To put that into context, the biggest map on Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare holds 18, while the average is only 12. Again though, this shouldn't have come as a total surprise, as EA's much-maligned Battlefield series topped out at an eye-watering 64 players on some maps. However, as any early adopter of that particular series will be quick to tell you, the initial phases were a technical nightmare to make work, as the bugs in the game combined with the overbearing weight of the players to make it a thoroughly unenjoyable experience. Hopes were that they'd have learned some lessons here before designing Battlefront, but it seems as though their desire for huge games has only been reigned in slightly.
